County of Tripoli

Last of the crusader states to be founded, in present-day Lebanon around Tripoli; it ended when the Mamluk sultan Qalawun captured the city in 1289.

• Tripoli (c. 1111 CE): Capital of County of Tripoli (1111–1289).
• Krak des Chevaliers (1142 CE): A crusader castle in Syria given to the Knights Hospitaller in 1142 and greatly expanded by them, it is one of the best-preserved medieval castles.
