Mataram Sultanate

A Javanese sultanate in the interior of Central Java that reached its height under Sultan Agung, who besieged Dutch Batavia; it later split into the courts of Yogyakarta and Surakarta.

• Kotagede (c. 1588 CE): Capital of Mataram Sultanate (1588–1613).
• Kartasura (c. 1680 CE): Capital of Mataram Sultanate (1680–1743).
