Republic of the Rif

A republic proclaimed by Abd el-Krim among the Berber tribes of the Rif mountains in northern Morocco, after their victory over Spanish forces. A joint Spanish-French campaign defeated it in 1926.

Rif War (1921–1926 CE): Berber tribes of the Rif led by Abd el-Krim fought Spanish and later French colonial forces, inflicting a heavy defeat on Spain at Annual in 1921.
Ajdir (c. 1922 CE): Capital of Republic of the Rif (1922–1925).
