East Javanese kingdom founded by Ken Arok, which reached its height under Kertanegara; its fall led to the founding of Majapahit.

• Malang (c. 1227 CE): Capital of Singhasari (1227–1292).
• Majapahit Empire (c. 1293–1527 CE): Hindu-Buddhist thalassocracy based in eastern Java at Trowulan, which reached its height in the 14th century under Hayam Wuruk and his minister Gajah Mada.
